Resources

Walking through a forest alone in the middle of winter can help you see more clearly all the resources in your life.

Here are some of the resources that have helped me and my clients find our way when feeling lost and invisible. Whether they are internal or external, they can sometimes be hard to see, especially when we are immersed in a forest, even if they are right in front of us. Being connected to our resources helps us remember who we are at our core and not get lost in the depths of trauma and loss.

Our lights

A big part of my resources has been the people who have supported me on my journey, shining their light on me. Here are a few of my lights to help you remember yours.

Bringing yourself into the picture

—without buying a fancy new camera to get yourself in the picture, and not be invisible. Video-recording our sessions helps make what we do more visible, allowing us to understand our Self as therapists as we learn and facilitate this healing work.

Here's a glimpse into my journey and where I started. The elephant is another way that has helped me think about my core, the light inside.

Recommendations

If you resonate with my work, here are some others you might like who have their own light:

The first one is from my son, Adam Cecil, a blogger, radio DJ, and podcast consultant in London. It's always good to have a little Night Water on hand, especially when figuring out how to set up a blog.

Night Water
A late night, idiosyncratic niche culture newsletter. As refreshing as a glass of cold water at 3 a.m.

I strongly recommend the work of SueAnne Piliero, the founder and director of CSRT. This remarkable therapy model highlights the importance of the core self existing independent of experience. It has been an inspiration and a beacon of hope for many around the world, a light that I believe will continue to grow within me as well.

Core Self Reclamation Therapy is Fierce Love, a new form of psychotherapy founded by SueAnne Piliero, Ph.D. Therapists heal the Wounded Self by championing the patient’s Core Self.
