The Path of Transcendence

This little piece is one of my biggest. It goes to the core of my being—the path of transcendence from therapy to life, life to therapy, into the world. Read it, play the song—letting your truth light the way home.

The Path of Transcendence
Can you hear the joy? No matter where you sit in the room, or in life, we are all winners. Photo by Mark Paton / Unsplash.

It’s been a few months since I began this blog, and I’m deeply grateful you’re here with me on this path—all of you, therapists and non-therapists alike.

I’ve discovered so many connections—especially those of the heart I couldn’t see before. I’ve learned more than I imagined—and still, there’s so much more to learn and do.

I hope some of you are feeling more “buy-in” to therapy and understanding for those on this journey—even though some choose to stay on the fringes, not quite ready to come forward, yet.

I hold the light that whatever needs to happen will unfold—because that same light within is burning and guiding us home.

I often say that I am bringing therapy to life, but I want you to know that you are bringing life to therapy—and together, we are bringing it into the world.

It’s the gift we’re uncovering together—the one that has always been there—showing how therapy can live inside your life, helping you discover the joy you may have forgotten, or never had a chance to know.

That’s also a gift you are giving me as my work evolves and expands, and what I can give to others.

And in many ways, you are offering it, too. That’s one of the amazing parts of this work. It‘s your value as a person that you can see more clearly—as the trauma fades into the past.

It’s what you can imagine you can be because that’s who you already are—and who you were born to be—your Core Self.

It’s the light of invisibility—and in that light, I know I belong: with myself, with others, and with something even greater—still waiting to be discovered.

That’s the path of transcendence—bringing our compassion, presence, and truth into the world to heal and make it a better place. We help others see the bigger picture of who we were meant to be, and the light reflects back—knowing it is true.

Feel proud that we’re all in this together. That means the world to me—to all of us.

When my time fades and life begins again, follow the light in your heart—a gift to you that is your gift to all of us—bringing therapy to life and life to therapy—and into the world.

Treat yourself to the video below, as James Taylor and his son, Henry, sing You Can Close Your Eyes. This short song is one of my favorites—a true celebration of the human spirit.

Take a moment to think about a problem you or someone close to your heart is facing.

Close your eyes and imagine… the words coming together in just the right way—new meaning arising and seeing a higher purpose.

Feel the transcendence as you have a clearer view and new hope for what’s possible—no longer in the hole of shame and despair, and restoring our humanity, instead.

Returning to where we started—hear the joy in life—the children inside and in front of us—knowing they are being heard and aren't alone anymore.

The ending is a new beginning.

You can close your eyes. You can sing this song when I’m gone. It’s all right… It’s all right. Me too.
